Traffic figures at all MAG airports were severely impacted by the outbreak of Covid-19 in June, as travel restrictions and a dramatic reduction in demand for flights impacted the Group’s passenger numbers. The figures are a reflection of world trends, with some signs of recovery already seen at the airports, with June total figures 87.6% higher than May.

In total MAG airports saw passenger figures reduced by 98.3% year-on-year in June, with MAG’s three airports serving 100,719 passengers between them, compared with 6.1 million in June 2019.

At London Stansted Airport and East Midlands Airports, cargo figures showed strong growth (STN: +11.9%%, EMA: 10.9%) as key freight operators used the airports to keep essential goods flowing into the country and providing UK firms with a key route to export.
