Traffic figures at all MAG airports for January remain impacted following the collapse of Thomas Cook Airlines in September 2019, which was reflected in a year-on-year decline in passenger numbers (-1.5%) at group level.
However, Manchester Airport still served more passengers in the last 12 months than it had in the previous 12 months, with London Stansted Airport facing a slight decline of -0.1%. Overall, MAG airports served 62.2m passengers in the year to January 2020, up 1.2% on the previous year.
East Midlands Airport’s rolling 12-month passenger performance decreased by 4.5% in January, partly due the loss of Thomas Cook and BMI Regional, as well as reduced capacity by Flybe. Cargo performance at East Midlands Airport for the month of January has also declined slightly by -0.7% compared to the previous year.
